TEMPO Skien 2008 opens May 31st with new works by Bjørn Bjarre (N),  Åsil Bøthun (N), Stefan Christiansen (N), Ellen Karolina Jakobsson Strømsø (S/N),  Pål Jomås (N), Morten Kildevæl Larsen (N), Kristina Müntzing (S),  Matt O'Dell (UK), Bob and Roberta Smith (UK), Kasper Sonne (DK), Sound of MU (N), Ingebjørg Torgersen (N) and Sveinung Rudjord Unneland (N).

I have been appointed director of Hordaland Art Centre in Bergen, Norway, and am looking forward to starting my new job June 15th. The position is for three years, and lots of exciting things can happen there! The art centre is located in the oldest school house in Bergen.

A new Flaggfabrikken presenterer: series is about to start! This spring's programme is: Flaggfabrikken Presenterer: For God’s sake Kate, where is the camera, Landmark/Bergen Kunsthall, Bergen, Norway. Spring 2008. A monthly series of presentations/talks/events. Co-curated with Åse Løvgren. Raum für Projektion (D), Erstad Konsthall (S), Instant Coffee (CAN).

Raum für Projektion will start the season with Loop Pool Ping Pong Thursday February 7th at 21.00, at Landmark as usual.

Another thing coming up later in the year is a project by Thomas Kratz (D/UK). Time and location to be announced.

Artists Nina Jan Beier and Marie Jan Lund has started the first leg of their residency period in Suldal within the frames of Guide to a Moment. The project can boast of the translation of the title to Ei utveksling av augneblink. More news to be posted on this project soon.

Also the publishing company Ctrl+Z Publishing has been included in Christoph Keller's Kiosk. Since 2001 Keller has organized and curated Kiosk  – Modes of Multiplication, a traveling archive on independent publishing. This spring it is scheduled to appear at Galerie Art & Essai in Rennes, France and at the ICA Philadelphia, USA.

In addition Ctrl+Z Publishing is present in "One for the Books" sub-curated by artist Marte Johnslien at Astrup Fearnley Museum of Contemporary Art as part of the exhibition "Lights On"

Thursday Januray 24th I'll be discussing internationalisation of the Norwegian art scene with Power Ekroth, Knut Åsdam and Øysten Aasan at Astrup Fearnley Museum of Contemporary Art Moderated by Hanne Beate Ueland. Also related to the "Lights On"-exhibition.

I am also happy to announce the project Guide to a Moment within the framework of Kunstnarprosjekt Suldal with participating artists Elaine Allison and Patricia Bray (SCO), Una Line Ree Hunderi (N), Nina Jan Beier and Marie Jan Lund (DK) and Leigh Clarke (UK). Book to be published autumn 2008.

I also look forward to presenting Flávia Müller Medeiros' work Failed, Emerging and Young during Rakett's presentation of the Curating Degree Zero Archive in Bergen. The presentation will be at Bryggen Friday October 5th at 19.00.

I have been working hard lately to come up with a title for the exhibition commissioned by SKINN; m2 og tid - når solen treffer huset samtidig som det ringer på døren (m2 and time - when the sun hits the house at the same time as the door-bell rings). Soon I'll be able to post some stills from the videos in this exhibition too. And I have accompanied the artists Nina Jan Beier and Marie Jan Lund to Suldal and the company Norsk Stein AS where they made the video work Throw the stones back into the sea.

The exhibition Reiseblikk is opening at Oslo kunstforening May 31st at 19.00! I have a feeling it will turn in to a grand summer party!

I will show an updated/re-edited version of the screening Individual Communities at Christiansands kunstforening this summer, opening June 30th.

I am preparing for the big opening of the exhibition Reiseblikk at Halden kunstforening, Halden, Norway, January 27th. Ctrl+Z Publishing will publish the catalogue for this exhibition!

The night before, Friday January 26th, the exhibition Return Flight will open at UKS, Oslo, Norway. Looking forward to seeing how it will look compared to at Rum46 last autumn. Return Flight will open in Bergen, Norway, March 16th at USF.

Going to Philadelphia, USA, in the beginning of February to mount the exhibition Dualities - Contemporary Norwegian Photography at the Sol Mednick gallery February 9th. The exhibition is open for a month.

November 2006

Lots of new things are falling into place, and here are some of the upcoming activities:

The opening date for the exhibition "Return Flight" has been set to November 3rd 2006 at Rum46 in Århus, Denmark. UKS in Oslo to follow. Date to be set. Artists are Lars Nilsson (S), Sixten Therkildsen (DK) and Kristin Tårnesvik (N).

November 2006: Invited to the Romanian city of Iaşi to screen "Individual Communities" at Vector>. It will also be screened in Bucharest at MNAC.

In November the B-Open publication "Politisk? - refleksjon omkring kunstens rolle i offentligheten" will be avaliable. I am contributing with text/images together with Malin Barth and Sissel Lillebostad. The launch will be at Landmark November 16th at 21.00.

Spring 2007: I have curated the exhibition "Dualities - Contemporary Norwegian Photogaphy" for the  Sol Mednick Gallery, directed by Harris Fogel. The artists are Roar Hatteland, Are Hauffen, Hilde Jørgensen, Kjetil Kausland, Liv Ragnhild Kjellman and Heidi Nikolaisen. Once again working in close curatorial collaboration with Malin Barth and Sissel Lillebostad.

I've been reappointed as member of the award jury for the  Arts Council Norway’s exhibition grant, representative for The Society of Fine Art Photographers for two more years, and have been invited to be on the new committee for public art at Friundervisningen. They will use 10% of the annual profit to commission and buy art.

I was awarded a grant from the Art's Council for an upcoming exhibition I'm curating;  "Reiseblikk" (working title). It's opening in Halden kunstforening January 2007, and I'm looking forward to putting together art works and editing an exhibition catalogue.

I've spent the last months working for Borealis - Bergen Contemporary Music Festival as administrative coordinator helping out the fantastic festival director Nicholas Møllerhaug. This is the festival week!

Together with the curatorial team curate.no I organized a seminar for the twelve local artists who are invited to make site specific art for the exhibition project in public space "Ibsen mens du venter". Gisle Johannessen and Knut Ove Arntzen were key note speakers. More info on the project will appear in May when the exhibition opens.
