Press release:

The Others is in the first instance about the individual's/the artist's meeting with the world around her, and in the next about the viewer's meeting with this world and the depicted people through the photographs. The people portrayed meets the viewers with a direct and confronting look. As a contrast to this extrovert look, the viewers also see interior and landscape images. Scenes absent with people, but with traces of human activity, invites the viwer to take part in the work using their own look. The Others is all about looking. The piece consists of over 60 photographs, which can be placed within different photographic discourses.

By juxtaposing these motives and mixing the different genres the four photographer's gaze is placed together to become one expression. The images are taken both at home and while travelling, Romania, Bahamas, France, Germany and Sweden. That way the audience is confronted with visuals both familiar and unfamiliar.

Norwegian press release:

The others handler om å se.
